Looking back this has been a whirlwind of a year. It started off not knowing if our youngest son AJ had a hearing loss problem, as he didn’t respond to sound. Even a loud smoke detector above his head go no reaction. Thankfully two hearing tests latter at Western Michigan University proved that he could.
The spring brought two wedding cake and a grooms cake order, followed by planning my son’s second birthday in April. We celebrated AJ’s second birthday with a farm themed party. He got a swing set (to share with big brother of course) and they had a ball playing on it all summer.
In May I had the first of two oral surgeries for the year, the second occurring in October with more to follow in 2015.
I spent June holding two large yard sales where I earned over $800.00! It was also the month Heith (my husband) had his first episode of real bad dizziness, so bad that I had to go and pick him up from work. Something my boarder-line workaholic husband would have never done unless he had no choice.
In July my mom came to visit for the month bringing my now 6 year old nephew with her. KC learned to swim right before his fourth birthday. This year he picked out his own party theme for the first time and he chose a puppy party for his special day. I turned 35 again! It was one of my happiest birthdays in a couple of years. I realized that I had spent the past several months thinking I was already 35 and would be turning 36 (something I wasn’t looking forward to), then when my husband reminded me I was only turning 35 I was so happy. I felt like I got a whole do over year!
July was also the month I started Two Kids And A Budget! This blog has come to mean more to me than I anticipated over the past 5 1/2 months. Over the next year and beyond I hope that it will continue to grow and bring helpful tips and advice to others. I also hope that all of you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it!
August was…well it was probably the quietest month I had all year! My husband turned 40 and his mom and I planned a surprise birthday party for him. He does so much for me and the boys that I couldn’t let his special day go by without showing him how much he is loved.
September brought a big change to our family as KC started preschool and a whole new chapter in his life began.
This fall brought a lot of sickness to our family. Although I suppose that happens once you have children in school. As mentioned previously I also had a second round of oral surgery. I spent a couple of weeks recovering before life got “back to normal”.
November and December have flown by. AJ was tested for autism, we are still waiting to hear from some of the specialists. Last week Heith and I drove to the Michigan Ear Institute which is about 3 hours from home to see a doctor and have more tests done. While we don’t have any definitive answers yet, it did rule out a few things and I feel that we are closer to having some answers!
To be honest I’m not sure where the time has gone and now the year will be over in just a few short days. Writing all of this down I thought there would be more to show over the past few months but other than trips to the doctors and taking my Grandmothers’ to their doctors appointments there isn’t much else to share.
Overall 2014 was a good year for us. I can look back on it with a lot of joy and in the end, I think THAT is the most important thing in 2014.
