It’s that time of year again, when we focus on the future and make our 2016 resolutions. Last January I shared with you my goals for 2015, and while I did great on many of them, and blew some of them out of the water there were still a few that I didn’t do so well on. With that in mind I have come up with a few resolutions for this year as well.
My 2016 Resolutions
Similar to last years goals I have separated my 2016 resolutions into categories. This year they are personal, blogging, and freelancing. By breaking things down into smaller groups it allows me to have direction in those specific areas without getting lost and focusing on only one area. As a mom with two very active boys and someone with ADD I have found that this method works best for me.
Pay Down Debt. My husband and I are 18 months into a five-year journey to become debt free on a single income. It’s a lofty goal, but I think if we put our minds to it and stay focussed we can accomplish what we set out to do. We have already paid down over $4,500.00!
Continue To De-clutter Our Lives. I was fairly successful with this goal last year, but there is always more that can be done. As I de-clutter our lives I set things aside in a couple of different categories. One is sell, as I put things together I want to add to my yearly yard sale I mark the price on it to save time later. The other is donate, anything that I don’t think will sell gets donated and taken out of the house right away.
Menu Plan. I didn’t do so well on this last year. If I’m going to be honest I didn’t do it at all. I still hate to cook, and I still need to menu plan. I know it will help us save money, and I know it will help save time and will even help us avoid the “it’s 5 o’clock, what do we feed the kids panic”. I just need to sit down and make myself do it, and that goes right back to the ADD thing. Hopefully this will be the year.
Stay Organized. With all the personal and blogging resolutions I have made for myself along with my family responsibilities (including taking care of my 84-year-old grandmother) I need to be and stay organized. It will not only make life easier, but my ADD brain will thank me.
I blew most of these out of the water this year, which means while I thought they would be tough they were actually really attainable. It also means at some point I started figuring out this whole blogging thing, at least in part. I know I have a long way to go, but starting is half the battle. Many of my 2016 resolutions I have this year are a continuation of the ones I set last year.
Grow My Blog. Two Kids And A Budget is my personal sanctuary and I love sharing all of my budgeting ideas with all of you. This year I want to continue to help my blog grow.
By July 2016, the two-year anniversary of Two Kids And A Budget I plan to increase my monthly page views to 13,000 which will be double what I received in December 2015. By the end of 2016 my goal is to see that number reach 20,000 page views. I also want increase the average number of pages viewed per visit from 2 to 5 per visitor.
Finally, I want to have my Alexa Rank move down to 800,000 by July. As of today it is at 1,087,554. With dedication I believe that it is completely doable.
Update My Blog. After changing themes early last year, and learning more about the right type of images needed for my blog I have a lot of work to do to update it. So, my goal is to have my blog looking great with updated posts and images by the end of the year.
Increase Social Media Followers. Currently I have 1,393 Twitter followers. I’m aiming to see the number of followers increase to at least 4,179 which would triple the current number. I would also like to see my Facebook followers increase from 209 to at least 400. Pinterest is an area I have recently started to pay some additional attention too and would like to increase my followers from 135 to at least 300 by the end of 2016.
So, if you aren’t following me in any one of those forms I would be so grateful if you did!
Do More Freelancing. I did a little of this last year. I had two articles published on Modest Money as well as guest posting on several other blogs. I want to do some more freelancing this year, that means I will need to commit a chunk of time to working on it.
Submit 3 Articles To Regional Parenting Magazines. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for the past couple of years, and just haven’t found the time to do it. I wanted to do this last year, but didn’t. This year I need to take action and do this.
Side Hustle Income. I have set a minimum monthly goal of $300.00. That will total about $3,600.00 (before taxes) by the end of the year. I chose the number because it will pay off one of our bills on just the income I earn. I of course would love to earn more than that each month, and will strive to earn more but setting a minimum will give me something to shoot for. I also felt that the $300 was large enough to push me a little and yet not so large it’s impossible to earn given all of my other responsibilities that keep me busy.
