After being cooped up all winter, our family is ready to spend some quality outside and I’m sure yours is as well. Now that the weather has once again turned warmer our five fun family activities can take us on outdoor adventures.
Go On A Treasure Hunt. Leave clues around the house or out in the yard that will take the kids from one small adventure to the next. Take your time to explore the many changes this new season is bringing to your backyard.
Play In The Mud Puddles. Put on old play cloths and a pair of rubber boots then splash in the puddles left behind by the many April shows we are expecting this month.
Play With Blocks Or Duplo’s. Building towers and towns is a great way to spend time on a rainy afternoon. While you’re playing take the time to practice counting, colors, letters and patterns. If your children are a little older you could even practice some basic addition and subtraction.
Dress Up For A Tea Party. Dressing up for a tea party or picnic is a lot of fun for not only the kids but for the grownups young at heart. Your special event can be held indoors or outside depending on the weather. Taking the time to sit and chat with your child about their day, their likes and dislikes will not only make them feel special but create lasting memories for you both.
Start Your Garden Seeds. While it’s way to early to plant them outdoors, you can give them a good start inside. Two easy ways to get this project started is by using an empty yogurt cup or a fabric seed starter cups to plant your seeds in.
You can also use this as an opportunity to teach your children some very valuable lessons. Explain how the seed will grow into a plant, and that it will eventually provide your family with food to eat. Growing seeds also provides your children with the opportunity to learn about patience, and being responsible for something.
