Documents to Bring to Your Driving Theory Test
You’ll be expected to show both parts of your valid driving license (the photo card and the paper counterpart) at the test centre. If you have an old-style license without a photo you must also bring a valid passport. If you don’t show the required documents you won’t be allowed to test and you’ll lose your fee.
Old-style driving licenses
An old-style license consists of one document which does not display your photograph. If you have an old-style paper license you will also need to take a suitable form of photographic identification. The Provisional License procedure is rather protracted but with some good organization it is possible to complete your Theory Test and obtain your Provisional License on the same day. What will you need?
1. Theory Test Pass Certificate.
2. Application Form.
3. Application Fee.
4. Two Color Passport Photos.
5. An Eye Test Certificate from an Optician.
6. Passport or Original Birth Certificate.
7. in certain cases of specified illnesses or ailments a Doctor’s Certificate.
A photograph of you, which has been signed and dated on the back by an acceptable person, confirming that the photograph is a true likeness of you. They must also include details of their position, telephone number and the length of time they have known you. Your examiner will accept a signature from the following: 1. Member of Parliament 2. Established Civil Servant 3. Bank Official 4. Police Officer 5. Medical Practitioner etc 6. Teacher 7.Solicitor 8.Established Civil Servant.
With all these Documents arranged all that is left is for you to sit in the Queue at the Motor Taxation Office and usually the turnaround here is no more than an hour or less. If you get there early you could be out in half an hour!
At the test centre
On arrival at the centre you will be asked your name and asked to hand over both parts of your driving license to allow invigilator staff to check your driving license entitlement.
You will be asked to store any belongings you have in a locker. You can keep the key with you during the test. All mobile phones must be switched off. You will be given a copy of the test procedures and asked to take a few minutes to read over them.
The invigilator staff will then call you to check in by signing a registration log and to confirm your details. You will then be shown into the testing room and allocated an individual booth to sit your test. Check the details on the screen and if they are correct press Start on the screen to commence your test.
Should you have any problems in the testing room, raise your hand and a member of staff will come to you.
On completion of the test you are free to quietly leave the testing room. Staff will ask you to sign out and collect any belongings from the locker. You can take a seat in the waiting room to await your results.
This is the first hurdle over and you may now legally sit behind the wheel providing you have a fully qualified Driver alongside you.
