You may be wondering why I’m talking about Christmas in the middle of January. After all, it is twelve months away! This year my goal is to have a completely debt free spend free Christmas. That means I will not spend a single dollar from my husband’s paycheck to buy toys for our sons or nephews. Buying gifts for the rest of the family is also on the no spend list. I’m going to go a step further and include putting the Christmas tree, and the two Christmas brunches I host every year on the list as well. All totaled that is $550.00! I realize that is already a modest budget for most people but it is a large amount for a single income family on a tight budget.
Debt Free Spend Free Christmas Plan
As my regular readers know, I utilize several apps and reward programs that pay me for grocery shopping, scanning receipts, and other activities that I do on a regular basis. None of these activities take long to complete giving me a high return on my time investment.
Swagbucks. Many of you already know how much I love my Swagbucks and that it helped pay for our Christmas this year after only being involved with the program for 3 months. This year by fallowing My Hands Off Swagbucks Strategy I expect to earn $360.00 towards my Christmas goal.
Bing Rewards. I’m listing this separately because even though I use Bing Rewards as part of my Swagbucks strategy you can just as easily earn and redeem rewards directly from Bing. By earning Bing Rewards fallowing the suggestions in my review post you can easily earn an additional $60.00 in Amazon or other gift cards in time to buy Christmas gifts.
Receipt Hog. With Receipt Hog I’m expecting to earn a minimum of $30.00 this year between scanning receipts, scanning products when invited to, taking the occasional survey, and more. This morning I received an email telling me that Receipt Hog has again increased the available stores that you can scan receipts and earn coins for. They keep improving this app and I keep loving it!
Amazon Mechanical Turk. I haven’t talked about Amazon MTurk before, but this is the best site I have found to earn real money from home. In fact, many people use it to make a full time living. While I am setting aside $100.00 this year for Christmas I expect to earn much, much more from this one site alone.
Walmart Savings Catcher: I also plan to save any money I earn through the Savings Catcher app over the course of the next few months. Since I have no idea how much I will actually get back I did not include it as part of my debt free spend free plan. Instead I am looking at it as bonus money I can spend if needed.
