Can you believe we are half way through 2015 already? I can’t! I hope your family is having as much fun doing these fun family activities as we are. Each month we have brought you five new fun family activities and June won’t disappoint!
Fun Family Activities To Do In June
Go To The Zoo. June is a great time to go to the zoo. Typically the weather isn’t too hot yet and all of the animals are out waiting for you to visit. A trip to the zoo is a fun and educational experience for the entire family! Take the time to talk about where the animals come from, their colors, what they make like to eat.
Last year our family purchased a year-long family pass for $80.00. This was a great deal for our family because not only did it cover our entrance that day and for future visits the rest of the year. This zoo membership also gave us an entrance discount to many other zoos within driving distance of our home.
Fly A Kite. KC was given a kite for Easter this year and we have spent a lot of time outdoors flying his kite. Flying a kite gets the kids out doors and away from the TV. It’s a great way to spend time outdoors as a family, get exercise and fresh air. Flying the kite isn’t just about the activity itself, but about being together as a family.
Make A Father’s Day Cake. Father’s Day is fast approaching and will be here before we know it. One fun way to celebrate Dad is to make him a special cake. Invite the kids into the kitchen to help. Even children as young as 18 months old can help mix flour and sugar to make Daddy’s special cake. Once baked and cooled you can let the kids decorate with special sprinkles or other candies.
While you are busy in the kitchen take the time to explore the colors and shapes of the ingredients. Eggs are hard but flour is soft. Practice pouring and measuring, and then dumping it into the bowl followed my mixing. These are all important skills that your little one can practice.
Make A Hand-Painted Mug. Your coffee drinking Dad’s will love hand-painted mugs in the morning. You can make this using craft pain and a Dollar Store white ceramic mug. Simple pain the mug let it dry for 24 hours then put it in a cold oven. Set the temperature to 350 degrees and then bake for an hour. This baking process will set the paint so that it will become dishwasher safe and you do not have to worry about it getting washed off.
Play In The Rain. The boys and I love playing in a warm spring or summer rain shower. Splashing in the puddles and feeling the rain bounce off our skin. Just put on the kiddo’s swimsuit and head out for some fun!
